| Our History |
2004
While fighting to protect her children, Georgia Terri Archer, along with a group of former co-workers, formed the Safe Child Custody Fund (a political action committee). The Group was formed so that concerned citizens would be able to participate in efforts to address child abuse in custody matters, decisions affecting the placement of children in unsafe environments, and the balance of power as it affects the rights of children. Ms. Archer credits her childhood years with her grandfather (a former union organizer, and politician), and the Group's determination in the formation of the Group's position: (1) child abuse comes in various forms and is a crime against our most innocent and powerless citizens; (2) custody courts and child protective agencies must "always consider the right of a child to be safe, over all other matters"; (3) perpetrators of child abuse should not be allowed access to re-injure children or cause harm to other children.
Domestic Violence
On the subject of domestic violence in the homes of children and parents living with abuse, studies have shown that children and their battered parents are victims of domestic abuse and live with the risk of physical and psychological harm.
